The "Power" God of the Bible, created the earth, then flooded it but saved Noah and his family, parted the Red Sea, destroyed the Egyptians and the Philistines, gave little David power over Goliath, and much more. Dostoyevsky asked about Jesus' death; "Why did Providence hide it's face "at the most critical moment"... as though voluntarily submitting to the blind, dumb, pitiless laws of nature?" History was changed because God gave up his power for the sake of love and this all was done at the cross.
Power, no matter how well-intentioned, tends to cause suffering. Love, being vulnerable, absorbs it. In a point of convergence on a hill called Calvary, God renounced the one for the sake of the other.
