A Human Experience

I like what Ken Blanchard said in one of his books, "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience." This helped to transform my thinking. My job is to learn more about God and glorify Him, not love the things and materials of this world and my "human experience." It is after all, fleeting and temporary.

It reminded me of Romans 12:1. "...present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship." and I Corinthians 3:16, "...you are a temple of God and the spirit of God dwells in you."

In 1 John 2:27 the spirit can teach us if we're open to him, and so John writes, "...the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him."

Followed by goats

I found this magnificent old photo of Tyler during one of our trips to Chicago Basin in the San Juan mountains of Colorado. This photo was taken only about 20 yards from our campsite near the trail. It's was amazing they let us get so close.

So where have you been?

Sorry I haven't posted much lately. I've been a little preoccupied, to say the least. Now that Noelle and Seth have a third (Elijah Timothy not pictured), we're really excited. Did I ever tell you about my grandchildren? And what's a grandmother? She's the one on my left who's thrilled because her grandchild can recite the Gettysburg Address at 3 when Lincoln didn't do it until he was much older!

Boating in Maine

I found this photo of Tyler I took on Mark's boat. I took it about 15 years ago. We were sailing up the coast of Maine to eat Lobster and camp out on the boat in little hidden coves. We had a great time. The lobster was very good.

Nice view

The rain in Portland cleared and there it was out the window; the cold, icy frozen, and rugged, almost suspended Mt Hood, staring back at the beautiful city looking exactly the same as it did to Lewis and Clark hundreds of years ago. Nice view huh!

Over the top

I've been traveling in Portland, OR over the last week. Two trips in fact. On one of the trips I worked in the office of a guy who was out for the day. These words were written on his white board beside his desk. Most guys I know think they "missed their chance" or they're on the "wheel of misfortune." Words like this from a daughter will send a man over the top.

Set the LORD before you

I have set the LORD
Continually before me;
Because He is at my right
hand, I will not be shaken.
Therefore my heart is
glad and my glory rejoices.

Freezing snow and sleet

The last few weeks have been, well... snowy and cold to say the least. Last week the high in Denver was MINUS 1. The sun didn't come out that day. Would you? I really don't mind the freezing sleet and snow, but I wish they'd come in the summer, when the weather is nice!

Computers

Our company has a giant abacus under glass. It's for emergencies in case the computer breaks, or the spreadsheet is too big! Unfortunately, the computer is down so often it has canvas burns. Hopefully, I'll get a new one soon otherwise it's going out the window.

Shoeing above Moffat Tunnel

I found this photo of Moffat Tunnel and thought you might enjoy it. When we went shoeing the other day, we hiked up and above the tunnel. I''l have to go back sometime and wait for one to come roaring out.

Another storm

Hearing a very early noise outside yesterday, I looked out to seven or eight inches of snow. Another storm had arrived.

Then, when I got up yesterday morning Nancy was outside shoveling the snow! Bless her heart! I think I'll make a cup of coffee and watch.

Shoeing near Moffat

I went shoeing yesterday with my friends above Moffat Tunnel. It was only six miles in and out but the trail was pretty steep for the last mile or so up to the lake. It wore me out.

If you've spent any time at the tunnel, you realize how loud it is. They turn on these huge exhaust fans to clear out all the fumes from the trains. I was hoping to get a shot of Amtrak going in or coming out.

Dinner

Hey Ma! "Is that dinner I smell?" "It is and you do." Kids are great and do the strangest things. It always keeps me entertained.

Life, Liberty and...

Every baby born in America is endowed with life, liberty, and owes about three trillion toward the national debt! But in this household no one is thinking about that. Here, the conversation goes something like this; "It must be time to get up, dear." "How do you know?" "The baby's fallen asleep!"

Tyler and the baby

Tyler enjoyed the time with us in Tucson and it was fun watching him get to know his new nephew, one more family member to spoil. This little guy is a week old. While I was there, I noticed how much a baby brightens up a home. Since this one came, the lights have been on all night!

Babies and Martians

On our way back to Denver we went through New Mexico and ran into a Martian. He listened to us describe how babies were made. The Martian laughed and said, "Amazing! that's how we make bicycles!"
