We're headed backwards, not forward

Some of you have asked about all the political posts recently, so I'd like to offer up an explanation. I think it was Tip O'Neill who said, "As we all know, the truth is a frequent casualty in the heat of an election campaign." I think he is 100% correct! The number of lies told have skyrocketed!

That said, the matter is worse since the media has done little to inform people about what is really happening. I believe that Barack Obama is a socialist. That was confirmed when he said he believed in redistribution of wealth. My friend Craig observed not long ago how this is so completely anti-business. And, America is successful because of what business has done, not the government. Socialism penalizes those who are productive and rewards those who are unproductive. That is going on today. So, what does the media do? They separate the wheat from the chaff and publish the chaff. Socialists have run for office before and gotten maybe 50,000 votes, along with the communists. You have to lie quite a bit to overcome this kind of political deficit because people don't want socialists running our country, they've just been deceived. I don't think Democrats really believe he is a socialist, but he is. Socialism will drive us into the stone age and is moving us backwards, not forward!

In the summer of 1976, Carter told reporters on a press bus in Ohio, "You've treated me very well so far," Compared to what? They asked. "To the way you treated Nixon."  Now that I have a blog and some followers and a Twitter account with a few followers, I hope to "change" things in my own little corner of the world. Don't be deceived by what the media tells you.

I am also deeply concerned about moral issues in our country. Morality is declining. Some would say, we're just getting more enlightened because gays can get married, women can "choose" to "kill their infant," some states have legalized euthanasia, and we play with genetics by crossing pigs with people in order to harvest tissue. If there isn't something deep inside you that says, "this is wrong," then I have nothing to say to you except, "examine yourself more deeply, and try to reflect on the difference between right and wrong?" If you say, "It's right for me," then you've bought into moral relativism and are believing a lie propagated by liars. Ask yourself, why is it "choice" trumps "murder?" And, as long as we're on the subject, I don't want to pay for your birth control or your abortion. You need to pay for the consequences of your own negligence. When I was a kid and broke the neighbor's window playing baseball, I didn't go to all the other neighbors and ask them to pitch in and help pay for it.

I am also concerned about small business in our country. Obama care will kill much of it and drive good people, who create most of the jobs in this country, out of business. Not to mention how the onerous government regulation kills any incentive to be creative and take a business risk. We're headed backward, not forward. Obama says he doing all these wonderful things for small business, but it's just words. What he does is purely and simply anti-business. You say, "business is evil," No, business isn't evil, there are just a few well publicized business executives have done evil things.  Hmmm... so there is evil after all? Now my question to you is,what if it's "right for him?" And while we're talking about this, remember who warmed up to Wall Street, bailed out the banks, etc.? Barack Obama! Why isn't he guilty by association?

So, you can vote the way you want and say what you think. All I ask is that you really reflect on who this person is and what he is really trying to do. Is this really what you want?

Wait! Don't issue layoff notices in October - O

Obama tries to block sequester layoff notices. Of course it will make him look better and cost the taxpayers lots of money.  Click on Block sequester above to read more.

Why?

My church welcomes all denominations - tens, twenties, fifties...  But this is ridiculous!

This is the kind of thing I'm struggling with. It is no longer stimulus money, it's not feeding the poor or the hungry, there is certainly no political benefit to the U.S. for doing this, and why don't local Christians get any of this? No, the government just wants to tax church's now. Where is the public outrage?

Where is President Obama really from?

There is reason to believe that President Obama is not from the U.S. as was previously believed.

Reason #1:  This particular flying saucer left Earth the day after its arrival. The crew didn't talk to anyone on Earth (other than make hoards of promises), but it did leave a bunch of junk mail sent to "Occupant."

Reason #2:  There are flying saucers over us all the time. Their occupants want to talk to our responsible leaders, but they're having trouble finding any!

Reason #3:  This particular flying saucer landed in Arizona and the crew was sent home due to inadequate documentation. The occupants left and filed a lawsuit.

Nancy's mums

Below is a photo of Nancy's mums on the back porch. The other night we were sitting out here, relaxing in the evening, and we realized we weren't alone!

Close inspection revealed we had company. Even though it's late September, a couple of bees had found our planters and decided to pick up a few supplies before the end of the season. I heard one of them say to the other,
"This may not be a depression, but it's the worst boom year in history!"
The other one replied,
"I see things like our President and beat the recession last year. I went broke two years ago!"

Data released by Senate Minority

It's interesting to note that the number of net jobs created in the second quarter of 2012 is smaller than the number of people who've been added as food stamp recipients and awarded disability. It's also interesting to note that once you are added to disability (which seems to be much easier now), you are no longer considered "unemployed."

The chart below show the net change in jobs from 2009.  Obama exclaims how he has added jobs since he began as President, but what he doesn't tell you is how many have been lost and not replaced. What is the NET Mr. Obama? This puts the net new jobs since 2009 at a negative 1.3 million. Not a good number in my estimation and shows negative economic growth. Meanwhile, the number of people on disability and food stamps shows a wild increase.

Do you think the media will talk about this? Probably not.

Bikes and Aspen Trees!

Nancy and I went biking yesterday up near Leadville, CO. Besides the benefit of exercise and a really fun ride around the town of Leadville, we enjoyed the changing aspen trees. How magnificent it gets in our mountains.

Leadville also has a few things to offer. It is rich with history. Doc Holliday shot his last man in Leadville and lived there for 5 years. Horace and Baby Doe Tabor made and lost millions here. There was the murder of Judge Dyer, the Guggenhiem fortune was made here, and on it goes. We had lunch at the Silver Dollar Saloon and stepped back into this history just a little.

Track record

Who has the better track record or investments? Who was investing their own capital instead of someone else's? Which of these companies is now paying the most taxes?  Which of these companies employ's the most people? Who created the most jobs here? Who would you prefer to vote for, based on their record of investment?

Dependency

Spending as much time as I do in the forest, I found this especially delightful. I hope you do too! Here is my question. Has dependency on the government increased because there is a real need, or is it designed to change the turnout at the polls?  If you're dependent on me, you wouldn't vote against me., would you?

Who's really added jobs?

Jobs are critical to our country and our survival. Jobs in the U.S. are predominantly provided by the private sector. When the private sector makes money, it then pays taxes which then provide money for the government to provide needed core services to the public. It is interesting to note that when an employee pays taxes, the business must match and pay the same tax. So, if I earn a million dollars I must pay taxes on that income, but so does the business that pays me. It pays an equal amount. Economic growth and health improves when business improves and grows.

It is interesting to note that Obama's tax break proposal was only for the employee, not for business.

As the government grows and businesses decline, there will be less taxes paid. This is because the government does not tax itself. If there are fewer taxes paid it will impede our ability to pay off our enormous debt and meet the needs of hungry and destitute people.

What John McCain predicted

In 2008, Presidential candidate John McCain predicted in one of his ads that Obama would bring gas prices to $4.00 per gallon. The national average is $3.86 which includes states with $4.00+ per gallon. Nevertheless, his prediction was correct. I trust you are all paying close attention then and now. This guy in the picture may not have a shirt if Obama is President 4 more years - my prediction.

POINT THIS GUN AT MY HEAD?

I taught my kids gun safety. And, they learned about guns at an older age. This 6 year old (maybe) is pointing it at someone's head. And we're worried about guns in the U.S.? At the end of the day, it's about what you value. Do you value life? Or, do you tell your kids to put on a vest of bombs and blow up people you don't agree with? Do you teach them gun safety because you value life, or are you indifferent about who gets killed in this crowded place?

Are you better off?

Well, are you better off? I sometimes think that certain people just want to send us back to the stone age. Costs and debt have increased and income has decreased. Now, the government gets it's tax base from the income of the people right? If that's going down, then it will take even longer to pay for the debt we (and our children) are now saddled with. And quite frankly, I would rather buy gas from a foreign country than pay off a loan to a foreign country. At the end of the day we shouldn't have to do either one! That's the record!

Civil rights

I found this photo from one of the people I follow on Twitter. I thought it was really good. Think about the home Mitt Romney must have grown up in. What kind of things were discussed over the table at dinner? Where did he get his thinking and what does he believe? My guess is, the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.

Lost Creek Wilderness

Sorry, I haven't posted anything lately but I've been a little preoccupied hiking the length of Lost Creek Wilderness from Wigwam Trail head to Goose Creek. Dan and I hiked it in three days and enjoyed some beautiful vistas, wonderful weather, and a few tough climbs over a high pass.  Lost Creek got it's name because the creek disappears and goes underground without any rhyme or reason, other than porous rock.

Below is a photo of one of the historic buildings where we stopped and had lunch on the second day of hiking. We didn't see anyone until we got nearly to this point, and then... lots of people. Nevertheless, we still had a great time.

At the turn of the century they tried to dam up the creek just below this point by building a shaft to pump cement into the underground caverns. The project was a failure, thankfully. We hiked about a mile back into this area from the historic buildings to the Shaft House. If you go a little further you will see this beautiful valley, which of course was never damned up.

There is a bit of a challenge, if you want to see this beautiful valley. It is rarely seen because it's just plain hard to get to. After we reached the shaft house we hiked just another 500 yards or so. Here you have to negotiate through some very large boulders and then climb down this log. Then you walk under some giant boulders over a hundred feet high before you reach the ledge with a view of the valley. Climbing up the log was no big deal, but going down was a little uncomfortable.

We then hiked almost to the Hankins Pass Trail head and camped at Goose Creek for the night. I have to say, that we found some very nice campsites on our hike. And, Dan had this really cool water filter which worked very well for us.

Dancing with a Wounded Warrior

A friend of mine sent me this photo and called it "Dancing with a Wounded Warrior." I loved the photo because it says something about how much value he places on those who sacrificed so much. He can't get re-elected President. He's not running for office. He's not looking for accolades from the media (of course they would never give it to him). It's just the way he is and feels about it.

Morning bike ride

Nancy and I had a nice bike ride this morning to Chatfield State Park. On the way down we saw a beautiful sunrise off to the East reflecting off the lake. As we rode by one of the lower lakes, we saw some deer and a small buck who walked out of the trees right in front of us. We stopped to watch him and he stopped to watch us. After about 45 seconds he got bored and walked away.

The Park is a beautiful place in the morning. There aren't a lot of people, and the lakes are still and quiet, reflecting the orange morning light. I wish I'd taken my camera but oh well, maybe tomorrow.

What Republicans and Independents are about to do O

Yes, we are about to boot Obama out of office, but we need your help. Everyone must vote and donate a little because the Dems will have dead uncles voting, illegal aliens voting and not doubt, opportunity to vote more than once. In Colorado all you need to do to register to vote is get a drivers license and say you want to register. In fact, they usually ask you if you want register to vote. They don't ask for ID. Who would say, "NO" to that?

So, make sure you vote, make sure your friends vote, and make sure you think about who to vote for.

Foot pain

As many of you know, Nancy broke her ankle last June on a hike in bluff. She is now out of the cast and biking, (the ankle is healed). The problem is, she now has acute foot pain in the ball of her foot. The Doc's kind of blew her off when she expressed her concern after getting out of the cast. Now she is going to have to get it looked at by someone else. Funny thing is, she can ride a bike without pain, but can't walk very far without great pain.

Rockies finishing stronger

The Rockies are finishing much stronger this year. They've had a winning August and the pitching has improved. My optimism has improved, which is saying quite a bit. In July, one pitcher was working on a new pitch. It looked pretty good when it reached home plate! Adam Ottavino has turned out to be bright spot with the Rockies pitching.

Jordan Pacheco is getting it done at the plate and on third base, hitting .311 with 41 RBI's.  His OPS is .772 and his SLG % is .425.Pretty good for a rookie if you ask me.

Buttons worn at DNC

This is the path of the Democratic party. Is this the path you want to go? Anti-God (booing Him in fact on the floor), killing unborn babies, degrading women (leave one at the bottom of a lake and other underneath your desk), destroying the natural course meant for marriage, millions on welfare?

Who is next in line?

I see some of my friends approaching retirement and think, "what's up with this next generation?" Perhaps retirement isn't a bad idea. But there is "hope." See below... At least their heart is in the right place.

Two empty chairs

I am working on my vacation for next year, and yes, right now there are two empty chairs. But in my case, Clint Eastwood will not be talking to me. Thankfully. We are looking forward to a great trip to St. John with some friends. I want a place with sand, sea, and surf. That way I'll come back bushed, burned, and busted. Nothing is as dull as a vacation you can afford.

This should be a better trip than my last one. On my last trip I suffered from bus lag. A vacation is a two-week holiday that makes you feel good enough to go back to work - and poor enough to have to!  My idea for a blueprint to the best vacation you'll ever have: Pack flip flops, bathing suit, snorkel, shirt, toothbrush, and sunscreen. Use them all every day and count your blessings every day that God has given it all to you.

Suspicious

Our daughter, son-in-law, and grand kids visited Craig and Kathy in Phoenix this weekend and enjoyed their pool on a hot summer day. I'm sure that felt really good, cooling off like that.

When we lived in Memphis we had a pool. But I was always a little suspicious about people who used the pool. When I filled it at the beginning of the year, I put in 10,000 gallons. Later in the year I emptied it and took out eleven thousand! But being suspicious just comes natural to me, ever since I came home one day and found my guppy gagged and bound! Or, that time at the bank and everyone was doing business lying down!

It's great to have good friends who love you just the way you are! When can we come down?

Our good friends Ed and Sharla are riding their bikes from Canada to Mexico. We just got an update and they passed into Oregon crossing the Astoria Bridge, which is 4 miles long, two lanes, and has a big hill to let ships pass underneath. For a great update on their trip, check out Ed's blog:
