Forgiveness

Someone at work said about a co-worker, "I can forgive, but I can't forget." This is really just another way of saying, "I will not forgive." Forgiveness should be a clean slate. Wiped clean, never seen again, and forgotten, so that it can never be brought up again.

I like what SK says about it. "A man rests in the forgiveness of sins when the thought of God does not remind him of the sin but that it is forgiven, when the past is not a memory of how much he trespassed but of how much he has been forgiven."
