Public opinion

Flying over Texas, you get a feeling that public opinion is changing. But what do farmers have to complain about? I overheard a conversation the other day in a California restaurant about farm subsidies. This one guy had quite a few acres of land and got $50,000 per year from the government. He was explaining to the other guy that if you carve up your property and put some in your mother's name, some in your brother's name, and the rest in your son's name you can get $50,000 for each piece. Let's see, that sounds a lot like $200,000. The other guy was grateful for the advice and said he would do the same.

Perhaps the farmers see Obama like the guy who ran over their rooster. The guy comes in and says, "I didn't mean to run over your rooster, and more than anything, I'd like to replace him." The farmer said, "Well, go ahead, then. Introduce yourself to the chickens - they're in back!"
