Early Christians

Someone asked me once, why did the early Christians tear down all the ancient and magnificent structures in Rome when they took power under Constantine. Well, put yourself in their shoes. They were persecuted and murdered in Rome, most notably in the Colosseum shown below. They wanted it destroyed but were unable to tear it down. An earthquake in 847ad helped but even that didn't finish the job.
