America the Beautiful

Here are the lines to the second verse of America the Beautiful. It was written by Katharine Lee Bates as she looked at Pikes Peak here in Colorado. I hope you'll enjoy it on this anniversary of the brave and courageous day our founding father's determined a new history for this nation.

O beautiful for pilgrim feet
Whose stern impassioned stress
A thoroughfare of freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm they soul in self-control,
They liberty in law!
