Political motivations

At the end of the day, I don't believe our politicians have a great deal of altruistic motives, even though they would like us to believe they do. My guess is they're interested in getting either, 1) re-elected, 2) hired by a large corporation and becoming a lobbyist, 3) looking for a way to make more money, or 4) tying to get power to accomplish one through three. These self serving interests are accomplished with taxpayer dollars and have already been abundantly distributed in very strange places. And now, they're after your pension!

Once again, I am reminded of the words of Solzhenitsyn who said, "You only have power over people so long as you don't take everything away from them. But when you've robbed a man of everything he's no longer in your power -- he's free again."

Words to ponder.
